The Card Swiper question asks participants whether they like or dislike an item being shown. Participants swipe left to indicate they dislike the item and swipe right to indicate they like it. An up and down swipe response can also be enabled. Swipe actions can be submitted from touch screen devices or using a mouse to click-and-hold and move in the direction of the desired swipe. Optionally, enable clickable buttons as responses.
The card swiper question is compatible with desktops, tablets and mobile touchscreen devises.

To add a card swiper question:
- Create a questionnaire and click on [ADD QUESTIONS].
- Select the Card Swiper question from the Basic Library, Specialty Questions folder and click on the [+] to add it to your questionnaire.
- Click on the Card Swiper question to open the configuration window. Enter the question in the Question Text Box. Use the editing toolbar to format question text as desired.
- Click on [+GROUP] to add the cards that will be evaluated in the swiper question. Enter the Group Names. You can choose to Randomize the order of groups.
Click on the red X to Delete Group. Click and hold the ⁝ icon to drag and Reorder Groups.
Optionally, to add images click on RESPONSE MEDIA. See Add Media to a Question's Response. - Configure the Swipe Responses:
- Enable Direction – Choose which swipe directions are allowed. By default, left and right swipes are enabled.
- Label – The label assigned to a swipe response in analyses. From the Options tab, you can also choose to display the label in the survey.
- Background – Set the background color of the icon button.
- Font Color – Set the color of the icon.
- Icon/Emoji – Choose which icon or emoji to display as response buttons.
- Under the OPTIONS tab to the right, configure the available configuration options:
- Show Buttons – Display clickable buttons as response options. When unchecked, responses can only be given with a swipe.
- Show Direction Labels – Show swipe direction labels above the icon or emoji buttons.
- Button Display – Choose whether response buttons appear as Emojis or Icons.
- Image Label Display – Choose how the Group Label appears when media is added. If no media is added, the label displays in the center of the card.
- Completion Message – Add a message to display after all cards have been answered. If left blank, a checkmark icon will display instead.
- Flash Icon After Swipe – Show the selected icon or emoji in the center of the card after each swipe response.
- Clear Responses – Allow participants to clear all responses and re-answer. When enabled, a Reset button will appear on completion.
- Animate – Make cards flick away in the direction of the swipe when enabled.
- Card Color – Set the background color of the card.
- Text Color – Set the text color of group labels when no media is used.
- Label Color – Set the background color of the image label when media is used.
- Label Text Color – Set the text color of the image label when media is used.
- Transition (ms) – Set the delay (in milliseconds) between submitting a swipe response and showing the next card.
- Sensitivity – Adjust how far a card must be swiped before a response is registered. Higher sensitivity means responses are detected with shorter swipes; lower sensitivity requires longer swipes.
- Aspect Ratio – Control how your image fits within the card. Auto keeps the full original image and fills any extra space with background color. 1:1 (Square) crops the image so it fills the entire card evenly.
- Group Randomization – Randomize the order in which cards are displayed.
- Click anywhere off the window to close it. The question updates on the page.
- Click on [PREVIEW] to review an example of how the question appears for consumers.
- Tap-and-swipe, or click-and-drag, in the direction you want to respond. Typically left signifies a negative response and right signifies a positive response.
- If buttons are enabled, then you can also tap or click the buttons to respond.
- The card flicks away in the direction of the swipe.
- Optionally, If enabled the response icon/emoji displays to reaffirm the response.
- The next card automatically displays, continue responding.
- Once all cards have been answered, the completion message displays.
- Optionally, if clear responses is enabled you can click the Reset button to clear all responses and re-answer.
- Click the [NEXT] button to continue to the next questions or submit the questionnaire.
When finished with the questionnaire, click on the X in the upper-right corner of a questionnaire builder to close it. If you have outstanding changes, you will be prompted to save. RedJade returns you to the Surveys page for the test.
