To configure an Answers Source:
- Create a question and enter the response list. This is typically a multiple selection question. This will be the question selected as the Answers Source in the next question.
- Create another question, do not enter any responses. From the Options choose the previous question from the Answers Source drop-down list.
- The response list is replaced with the message Using Answers Source.
Specify whether to display the answers Selected or Not Selected from the Answers Source question. - When the questionnaire displays in preview or while taking the survey, the answer choices from the first question are the responses of the next question.
NOTE – It's possible to have no responses display on a question using a Not Selected Answers Source from a Multiple Selection question, if all of the responses are selected as answers on the previous question. In this case the next question's text with no responses would still display, however, the required validation would not be applied allowing the participant to proceed. To prevent the question's text from displaying in this scenario, on the question using the Answers Source add a trigger to only ask it if the previous question "Does not contain all of these" or "Is not exactly this" with all Answers checked.
