Question options allow you to set display properties for the question, including the orientation on a page, and select the answers source and many other options, as applicable. Options are specific to each page element and question type.

Following are some of the options that may display based on the page element and question type.
| Answers Source | The selections from a source question are used in the response fields of a target question. See Answers Source for further details. |
| Default Response | Pre-populate answer choices on a question when a participant starts the survey. See Pre-populate a Default Response for further details. |
| Display Type | The Time Intensity Scale question has two display types: buttons and slider. |
| Groups Source | The selections from a source question are used in the groups fields of a target grid question. See Groups Source for further details. |
Hide Handle | Specify whether to hide the handle |
Labels | A number of labels may be placed above or below a Line Scale question or Time Intensity Scale (slider) question. Click on the + or - to increment or decrement the number of labels. |
| Media Size | Specify the size of media from 0% to 100% via a slider for items that contain media. |
| Number of Rows/Columns | Specify the number of response columns or rows on Single Selection and Multiple Selection questions. |
Orientation | Arrange the responses horizontally or vertically. |
Randomize Groups | Randomize the order of groups for Grid questions. |
Randomize Responses | Randomize the order of responses. |
Reverse Answers | Invert the order of responses (response texts and values). |
Reverse Values | Invert the order of values while maintaining the order of response texts. |
| Show Answer Value | Show the numeric value of the clicked point on a Line Scale question or Time Intensity Scale (slider) question. |
Show End Ticks | Show ticks at the ends of a Line Scale question or Time Intensity Scale (slider) question. |
Show Response Values | Show the numeric values in the answer fields. |
Show Tick Values | Show the numeric values of ticks. |
Ticks | A number of ticks may be placed along a Line Scale question or Time Intensity Scale (slider) question. Click on the + or - to increment or decrement the number of ticks. |
Time | Enter the duration of a timer (in seconds). |
Timer Type | A Temporal Dominance question may be stopped by a Stop button and/or a timer. If the Timer Type is Manual Stop, there is only a Stop button. If the Timer Type is Timed Stop, there is only a timer. If the Timer Type is Dual Stop, both display. |
Width, Start Value, End Value, Step Value | The configuration fields to customize a Line Scale question or Time Intensity Scale (slider) question. The width is in pixels; the start, end, and step values are numeric. |
To configure question options:
- Click on a question on a questionnaire page to open the Configuration Window.
- Select the OPTIONS tab if not already shown.
- Select the vertical or horizontal Orientation on the display from the drop-down list.
- Select the Number of Rows (Horizontal Orientation) or the Number of Columns (Vertical Orientation) field and specify a value.
- Select the Answers Source from the drop-down list.

- Specify the Media Size from the slider, if applicable.
- Select the Response Randomization from the drop-down list.
- Check Show Response Values to include response values in the report data.
- Select Reverse Responses and/or Reverse Values, if desired, to reverse their order on the display.
- Continue with configuring the other tabs or click off the Configuration Window to return to the page.
