A timer is a page element you can add to a page to control the pace or progression of the evaluation. A timer may be be specific to the page you are on or specific to the length of the overall evaluation. You can also attach a trigger to a timer. The action is only displayed after the timer expires and the trigger conditions are met.

To add a timer:
- From the Basic Library on the right, expand the Page Elements folder. Select Questionnaire Timer, then click on the + on the preview window to add the timer to the page.
- Click on the timer on the page to open the configuration window, then select the OPTIONS tab.
- Enter the duration of the timer in seconds.
- Select whether the timer starts manually or on which page to start the timer.
Manual Start means the participant has to click on Start when ready. Selecting a page number means the time automatically starts when the specified page displays in the survey. Timers are progressive, so you can start a timer on Page 1 of the questionnaire while placing the timer on Page 5. When the participant reaches Page 5, any remaining time needs to elapse before the participant can proceed. Otherwise, the participant can proceed if the specified time has already elapsed. - Check whether to Auto Advance or Show Timer. With auto advance the next page is presented when the timer runs out, without the participant needing to click on Next. Show Timer displays the timer on the page to the participant.
- To add a trigger to a timer, select the LOGIC tab, then click on +ADD TRIGGER.
- Complete the trigger configuration, as desired. See Add or Delete a Trigger for the steps to add a trigger.
- Continue working with the question configuration and click on [SAVE] when finished.
