The RedJade® Design Block application allows you to generate serving blocks from designs or import serving blocks created externally. A serving block is a table of serving order rows corresponding to participants. A serving order is the ordered sequence of servings. A serving consists of one questionnaire and zero, one or multiple samples.
Once you create a design for an event, you need to approve it before the test can be launched. In order to be approved the Design Block must be complete and must have at least one questionnaire.
You can create a design block from the last step of the Test Wizard or by clicking on the Design tile from the Test Dashboard.

To create a design:
- In the Design Block step, complete the Name field (if desired) and check the questionnaires you want to use for the test, then click on [SUBMIT]. All questionnaires created previously will be checked by default.
- The Design Block displays. Use the work area to configure the design. You can group samples and drag questionnaires into position.
Dragging samples until the middle highlights blue will create a group of samples. Samples are rotated and balanced within the group using Williams Squares.
Dragging samples or other questionnaires until the edge turns blue will link the samples together. This means that one sample will follow the other sample.SEE ALSO – Discrimination Test Design Block for additional details about the delivery order of discrimination tests. - Click on [BUILD NOW] to update the block.
- From the Block Preview, review the design. Click on [APPROVE] when satisfied with the design.
