A single selection grid question can be configured to function as a ranking question, where each item within the grid can only be selected once as a response across the ranking values.

To rank items on a single selection grid question:

  1. Create a questionnaire and click on [ADD QUESTIONS].

  2. Add a Single Selection Grid question to your questionnaire.

  3. Enter the Groups as the "rank" values of the question (i.e. most important to least important).

  4. Enter the Responses as the list of items to rank (i.e. statements, characteristics, brand names, etc.).

  5. Optionally, set the Orientation to Vertical for the Groups (Columns) to display the rank values across the top and the Responses (Rows) to display the items to rank along the left.

  6. From the Validations tab, click on [+ADD VALIDATION] and select Unique Responses as the Validation Type. This is in addition to the existing Required validation.

  7. Select Preview to see how the question will appear to participants.

Each item (statement) within the grid can only be selected once as a response across the ranking values. If a statement is assigned the same rank value as another statement, the rank value is automatically cleared on the other statement.

  8. Continue adding additional questions to the questionnaire. When complete, click on [SAVE] then click on the X to close the window.
