Validations are constraints that can be placed on answers, including required response, selection counts for multiple selection questions, sum to for numeric grids, length for text questions and unique responses on single selection grids. All question types have a default validation of "required." Multiple validations are allowed. Validations can be added and removed as desired.
The possible validations, based on the question type are:
Required | The question requires a response. If a response is not required, then delete the default validation by clicking on the delete icon. |
Length | Length has fields for the Minimum Length and Maximum Length. Applies to the Text Question type. |
Text Format | There are nine predefined format types available. Applies to the Text Question type. See Text Format Validation for further details. |
Range | Range has fields for the Minimum Value and Maximum Value. Applies to the Numeric Question type. |
Selection Count | Selection count has fields for the Minimum Selections and Maximum Selections. Applies to the Multiple Selection Question type. |
Sum to | Sum to has a field for the Sum Value. Applies to the Numeric Grid Question type. |
Unique Responses | Unique responses applies to a Single Selection Grid question. A Single Selection Grid question has responses and groups. If Unique Responses is selected, each response must be in a unique group. |
