The Zipper™ feature within Questionnaire Builder is designed to evaluate multiple samples in parallel and answer questions for each sample individually. This feature allows you to select the Zipper option on a question, by which the system will present each question for each sample prior to the next question to the user. Only certain question types are applicable for Zipper.

Create a Zipper Questionnaire

To create a Zipper questionnaire you select a Zipper question from the RedJade Library and complete it. 

To add a Zipper question:

1. From the Questionnaires step, click on CREATE QUESTIONNAIRE.
   
   
   
   
2. Complete the Title field to name the questionnaire.
   
   
   
   
3. Select Multiple Samples from the Questionnaire Type drop-down list.
   
   
   
   
4. Select With Multiple Samples from the "Served with samples or afterward?" drop-down list, then click on NEXT.
   
   
   
   
5. In the Samples step, select the samples on the left you'd like to evaluate, then click on ADD.
   
   
   
   
6. The samples are added to the right. Click on SUBMIT.
   
   
   
   
7. From the questionnaire, click on ADD QUESTIONS.
   
   
   
   
8. Select a question from the Multiple Sample - Zipper library and click on the + to add it to your questionnaire.
   
   

   NOTE – The Multiple Sample - Zipper folder includes all of the currently available question types supported in a Zipper Questionnaire. Any questions added from the RedJade Library that support the Zipper functionality have been selected for you by default. You can add supported question types from the basic library and select Zipper, as well.

   
   
   
   
   
9. From the Options tab, verify that Zipper is selected by default.
   
   

   NOTE – With line scale questions the Zipper Merged option allows for each sample to be rated on the same line scale. See Zipper™ Merged Line Scale Feature for Simultaneous Sample Evaluations.

   
   
   
   
   
10. Customize the question body and responses for the question, as desired.
    
    

    NOTE – The sample code automatically displays above each question. In addition, you can display the sample code or other available variable text within the question text. See Insert Variable Text.

    
    
    
    
    
11. Continue adding any additional questions for your questionnaire. When complete, click on SAVE.
    
    
    
    
12. Note the zipper icon above the question. Click on the X to close the window, then click on NEXT to continue the wizard.
    
    
    
    
13. In the Block Design window, complete the Name for the design.
    
    
    
    
14. In the design step, review the design, then click on APPROVE.
    
    
    
    
15. The design is approved. Click on FINISH WIZARD.

Preview a Zipper Questionnaire

Once you have created a Zipper questionnaire you can preview it so see how it will present to participants. 

To preview a zipper questionnaire:

1. From the Event tab, click on PREVIEW.
   
   
   
   
2. On the Previewer window, enter a participant number to begin or choose a participant.
   
   
   
   
3. Enter the Sample Codes in the fields, then click on Start Questionnaire.
   
   
   
   
4. The zippered question is displayed, showing the question and responses repeated for each sample.
