Use a discrimination test to determine any noticeable differences between two samples. A discrimination questionnaire is served with two, three, four or five samples, depending on the discrimination type. 


RedJade supports the following Discrimination methods: 

  • Paired comparison

  • Triangle
  • Tetrad
  • Hexad
  • Two of five
  • nAFC



To create a discrimination questionnaire:

  1. From a project, locate the test and click on the Surveys tile.



  2. From the Questionnaires step, click on CREATE QUESTIONNAIRE.



  3. Complete the Title field.



  4. Select Discrimination from the Questionnaire Type drop-down menu.



  5. Select the type of discrimination test from the drop-down list, then click on [NEXT].



  6. If you selected nAFC as the discrimination test type, enter the Total Number of Stimuli in the Set. For other test types, skip to the next step.



  7. Sample Entry Mode is typically Confirm by default. When Confirm is selected, the sample code confirmation screen with the assigned blinding code displays. When Verify is selected, the sample code entry screen is displayed and a valid blinding code needs to be entered to start the questionnaire. When Skip is selected the sample code confirmation or entry screen is disabled and the questionnaire will automatically start.

  8. Click on [NEXT].


  9. Select two samples that will be evaluated in the discrimination test, then click on [ADD].



    The set of samples is moved to the Servings section on the right.



  10. Repeat Step 9 for each set of samples that will be evaluated as a discrimination test using the questionnaire.




  11. Click on [SUBMIT].

    The questionnaire is added.



  12. Click on [SAVE & EXIT] to quit or click on [NEXT] to continue with the Project Wizard.

    This completes the steps for adding a discrimination questionnaire. Continue working with a questionnaire by adding questions, create another questionnaire or go create the discrimination test's design block.
