The old Acceptance Data (Legacy) import was officially retired on June 16, 2025.

A new and improved acceptance test data importer is now available. The new version provides improved data handling, standardized format requirements, and additional new features. See New & Improved Acceptance Data Importer for details.

An Acceptance test is performed to determine the degree of consumer acceptance for a product and is usually conducted using untrained consumer panels. To perform an analysis, you can use data you've generated within RedJade or you can import a data workbook generated externally. When you import a data workbook, RedJade identifies and makes default choices from the data, which you can then refine. You can import files up to 16MB in size.

Spreadsheet Formatting and Requirements

Worksheets:

  • The Excel workbook should contain three worksheets (tabs) containing data, products and questions, not necessarily in that order. The worksheet names are irrelevant to the import.

Data Worksheet:

  • Contains the collected survey data
  • The table should have a header row with the column names set up as in the example below or the import will fail
  • The first column is the product identifier
  • The second column is the unique subject identifier or name
  • The next columns are the survey question results
  • If there are missing values in the data set, the cell should be left blank

See the following example of the data worksheet.

Products Worksheet:

  • Contains the product identifier and product name

  • The table should have a header row with the column names set up as in the example below or the import will fail
  • The first column is the product identifier
  • The second column is the subject identifier

See the following example of the products worksheet.

Questions Worksheet:

  • Contains the question identifier, question name and question type

  • The table should have a header row with the column names set up as in the example below or the import will fail
  • Include one separator row between questions
  • The first column is the question identifier and analysis value
  • The second column contains the question name and options
  • The third column is the question type: Single, Multi or Numeric. The Numeric type includes a range.

See the following example of the questions worksheet.

NOTE – Be careful if you are pasting data from another source to not copy in data strings, which could cause the import to fail.

NOTE – If your data set contains missing values, the cell should be left blank.  Using a character such as a "period" will cause the import to fail.

To import acceptance test data:

  1. From the main menu, select ANALYSES.

  2. Click on [IMPORT DATA].

  3. Enter a Name and a description for the project, if desired, then click on [CONTINUE].

  4. The Import Type defaults to Descriptive Analysis. Select Acceptance Data (Legacy) from drop-down list. Click on [BROWSE FOR YOUR FILE] or drag the file to the window. You can import files up to 16MB in size.

  5. Locate the file on your computer, then click on [OPEN].

The import function identifies the Data Worksheet, Products Worksheet and Questions Worksheet per their order on the spreadsheet. To change, select the worksheet names from the drop-down menus.

  6. Click on [IMPORT].

Once the import and initial analysis completes, you can view and work with the data in the newly created Acceptance Data Analysis.
